I am writing to extend you a special invitation to an event co-hosted by COPAL and Alianza Americas to learn more about the exodus of people from Central America and the role of US policy. The round table dialogue, “’Seeking Safety, Finding Walls’ Why are so many Central Americans seeking asylum, and how is US policy putting children in danger?” The event will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 5:00pm in the COPAL office at 3702 E. Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55406.
Speakers are in Minneapolis for the Alianza Americas board meeting. They will bring first-hand perspectives from recent visits and their own decades of experience in Central America and Mexico. Alianza Americas Executive Director, Oscar Chacón has just returned from Mexico and El Salvador. He will be joined by board members, Abel Nuñez, Mirtha Colon, and Odilia Romero who bring perspectives from the ground from El Salvador, Honduras, and Mexico. Francisco Segovia, Executive Director of COPAL, will moderate. See flyer attached.
