Celebration and Live Music with Badoma Garífuna Cultural Band

On Saturday, April 30th, the Centro de Trabajadores Primero de Mayo and COPAL will celebrate National Garífuna Heritage Month located with the Badoma Garífuna Cultural Band at The Primero de Mayo Workers’ Center from 3 to 6 pm.

Badoma Garífuna Cultural Band from New York City will perform at the event. New York is home to the largest Garífuna community outside of Central America. The Garífuna people are an Afro-Indigenous people who celebrate over two centuries of resistance since they were forcibly displaced by colonial powers England and France from their native land of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and settled in present-day Central America at the end of the 18th century.
