IMMIGRATION AND CITIZENSHIP CHALLENGES CREATE BARRIERS FOR LATINXS LIVING THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES.
TPS recipients from El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Haiti, as well as DACA recipients, live in uncertainty of their future status. Undocumented residents live in fear of deportation. Additionally, Puerto Ricans living on the island do not have the full privileges of U.S. citizens on the mainland.
In order to transform our political system into one where all immigrants can succeed, COPAL:
- Offers a Spanish-language citizenship class to create Latinx political power at the ballot box
- Engages in key legislative battles like Driver’s Licenses for All
- Has made TPS advocacy part of its core programming, mobilizing its members to fight for and win a one-year TPS extension
- Engages in actions to safeguard DACA
