Ryan P.

Leadership and Organizing Director

Ryan Perez is a Minnesota-based facilitator, campaign manager, and political strategist. Ryan was born in Chicago and raised in the Jefferson and Portage Park neighborhoods to a working-class family. His father was a telephone lineman and a union steward with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), among the first Puerto Ricans in the union, and his mother was a retail worker and community-builder. In 2016, Ryan enrolled in Macalester College in Saint Paul, the first in his family on the path toward a college degree. He also began his organizing career in the Twin Cities, managing three winning electoral campaigns and directing transformative community organizing teams. Ryan has played pivotal leadership roles in campaigns including MN Latino Vote, the “45-Day” Campaign for Drivers’ Licenses for All, One Economy for Minnesota!, TPS for Ecuador, and the Immigrant Defense Network.

For Ryan, inclusive politics and policymaking can be vehicles to make life easier for working people. Ryan has been a frequent contributor to media publications including the Minnesota Star Tribune and MPR.
