What: COPAL’s Youth Committee will hold a press conference with Minnesota AttorneyGeneralKeithEllison in response to the U.S. Department of Justice lawsuitagainst Minnesota’s North Star PromiseandDream Act legislation. Local leaders will share what’s at stake for immigrant families and students, and will outline the broader implications for equity in highereducation.

When: Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 6:00pm
Where: COPAL Minneapolis (CAPI Building), 3702 E. Lake St. Minneapolis, MN, 55406 and via livestream
Why: The lawsuit threatens to take away opportunities that immigrantand low-income students have already begun to count on for their futures. The North Star PromiseandDream Act make highereducation more affordable andaccessible, breaking cycles of poverty and creating new pathways for leadership in our state. Rolling back these programs would close doors for thousands of students and weaken Minnesota’s ability to build a more equitable and prosperous future.
