COPAL Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of Rochester Office with Community Members, Partners, and Leaders

ROCHESTER, MN (June 28, 2025) — COPAL (Comunidades Organizando el Poder y la Acción Latina) proudly celebrated the one-year anniversary of its Southeast Minnesota office with a vibrant community event on Saturday, June 28, at its Rochester location on 1210 ½ 7th St NW. The celebration marked a powerful milestone in COPAL’s mission to improve the quality of life for Latine families throughout Minnesota.

Since opening the physical office in 2024—after establishing presence in Rochester in 2020—COPAL’s Southeast Initiative has become a vital hub for leadership development, civic engagement, and direct services in the area.

The program, emceed by Southeast Initiative Coordinator Carolina Perdomo, featured remarks from Executive Director Francisco Segovia and Southeast Initiative Organizer David Perdomo, among others.

“This moment isn’t just about a building or an anniversary,” said Francisco Segovia, Executive Director of COPAL. “It’s about the lives we’ve touched, the doors we’ve opened, and the power we’re building together. We celebrate every person, partner, and volunteer who has walked this path with us because this work belongs to all of us.”

David Perdomo highlighted key achievements, including the nearly 2,000 community members assisted through COPAL’s Southeast Initiative—support that has included help obtaining driver’s licenses, accessing vital vaccinations, and connecting to other essential resources. Beyond direct services, COPAL provided leadership and civic engagement trainings to empower residents throughout Southeast Minnesota.

Reflecting on the year’s progress, Carolina Perdomo, Southeast Initiative Coordinator, shared, “Every day we witness incredible strength and resilience in our community. This office is more than a space. It’s a place where people come to find support, leadership, and hope. We’re proud to be part of a movement that’s changing lives and creating a future where everyone belongs and can thrive.”

Dozens of community members, allies, and local leaders attended the event, affirming the broad support for COPAL’s grassroots leadership and local impact.

COPAL also honored several community partners, members, and volunteers for their invaluable contributions to the Southeast Initiative’s success.
